Trade Beads were otherwise decorative glass beads used between the 16th and 20th century as a token money to exchange for goods, services and slaves.
Trade Beads were used to purchase African resources by early Europeans. This included African slave trades.
An African Trade Bead worn as a pendant is believed to be protective, warding off evil spirits or spells, or they can be good luck charms.

A unique, simple yet, very eye catching small (14mm/0.55”) Blue African Trade Bead on a 15” black braided real leather cord with our Statement “Fish & Bone” clasp.
